Bring your imagination to life and enter this year’s Gingerbread House Contest at Christmas in Hometown Le Mars! This beloved holiday tradition invites bakers, builders, and candy lovers of all ages to create something truly spectacular. Whether you’re designing a cozy cottage, a candy-covered castle, or a whimsical winter wonderland, we can’t wait to see your creativity on display. Gather your family, friends, or co-workers and spend an afternoon mixing, building, and laughing together—it’s all part of the festive fun that makes the season bright.
Grand prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
- Most Creative Design
- Most Holiday Spirit
- Best Use of Candy
Entries will be showcased for everyone to enjoy, filling the space with the sweet sights and smells of the holidays. Families are especially encouraged to participate, making this a perfect opportunity to start (or continue) a cherished Christmas tradition in Le Mars. So grab your frosting bags and gumdrops, let your imagination run wild, and join us in spreading a little sugar-coated joy this season!
Important Things to Know:
- Gingerbread Houses must not exceed 1 foot in height or width.
- The majority of the items used to build your gingerbread house should be edible. A base must be included with your design.
- You must turn in your festive creation at The Living Center (112 Central Ave. NE) on the following dates:
- Tuesday, November 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and
- Friday, November 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- You can pick up your gingerbread house between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1. Any creations not picked up by 4:00 p.m. may be discarded.
